Merino/silk yarns

Regular base yarns

Diamond – 50% extra fine merino wool superwash, 50% mulberry silk – 400m/100g
35$/100g

Diamond - My Precious! - DSCN7106-1-c

4ply fingering weight yarn. Yarn is very silky and next to skin soft. Don’t hold shape well, so better suited for shawls, stoles, scarves or garments with free “flying” shapes. When in stock, available for custom orders in any yardage (comes on cones). Some dyed skeins will have one knot (about 1 out 10 skeins), but most will be knot free. Base color is white. Can be dyed in any colorway.

Sapphire 400 – 50% extra fine merino wool, 50% mulberry silk – 400m/100g (low stock)
35$/100g

4ply fingering weight yarn. Yarn is silky and next to skin soft, but it is untreated so felts easily. Don’t hold shape well, so better suited for shawls, stoles, scarves or garments with free “flying” shapes. When in stock, available for custom orders in any yardage, but it comes in skeins so any yardage different from standard 100g may have knots. Base color is white. Can be dyed only in colorways that don’t require a lot of handling at high temperatures (I can determine this only individually).

Sapphire 800 – 50% extra fine merino wool, 50% mulberry silk – 800m/100g (low stock)
35$/100g

2ply lace weight yarn. Yarn is silky and next to skin soft, but it is untreated so felts easily. Don’t hold shape well, so better suited for shawls, stoles, scarves or garments with free “flying” shapes. When in stock, available for custom orders in any yardage, but as at the moment it comes in skeins any yardage different from standard 100g may have knots. Base color is white. Can be dyed only in colorways that don’t require a lot of handling at high temperatures (I can determine this only individually).

Zircon – 55% merino wool superwash (25 micron), 45% mulberry silk – 800m/100g (low stock)
34$/100g

2ply lace weight yarn. This yarn is spun form 25 micron merino so it is not as soft as my other merino/silk yarns (has about the same softness as BFL/silk yarns from Topaz line). When in stock, available for custom orders in any yardage, but as at the moment it comes in skeins any yardage different from standard 100g may have knots. Base color is white. Can be dyed in any colorway.

Ruby – 70% extra fine merino wool superwash (19 micron), 30% silk – 1000m/100g
35$/100g

2ply lace weight yarn. The yarn is spun form extrafine merino so it is very soft. It is worsted spun and is very smooth and silky. When in stock, available for custom orders in any yardage (comes on cones). Some dyed skeins will have one knot (about 1 out 6 skeins), but most will be knot free. Base color is white. Can be dyed in any colorway.

Silky 350 – 50% extra fine merino wool superwash, 50% mulberry silk – 350m/100g

4ply fingering weight yarn. Yarn is silky and next to skin soft, but often had several knots in a skein, thus the reason for discontinue. Don’t hold shape well, so better suited for shawls, stoles, scarves or garments with free “flying” shapes.

Merisilk – 50% extra fine merino wool, 50% mulberry silk – 400m/100g

3ply fingering weight yarn. Yarn is silky and next to skin soft, but it is non-superwash so behaves badly during gradient dyeing, thus the reason for discontinuing it. Don’t hold shape well, so better suited for shawls, stoles, scarves or garments with free “flying” shapes.

 BFL/silk yarns

BFL has average micron count of 25 microns, so yarns spun from BFL aren’t as soft as extra fine merino yarns. Still it will be next to skin soft for many people.
